Pain, Misunderstood” Featured on WDRB News

Pain, Misunderstood, Confluent Health’s groundbreaking new documentary on chronic pain, was recently featured by Louisville’s WDRB News. The segment spotlighted the urgent need for a better approach to pain care and featured insights from our very own Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Stephen Clark.

“Patients are probably questioning more than ever how the health system can help them because they’ve been failed,” Stephen said. “This documentary proves that there is hope.”

The documentary follows three powerful patient stories, including:

  • A former WBA international boxing champion.
  • A young woman living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
  • A survivor of a life-altering hunting accident.

Through their journeys, viewers witness not just the challenges of chronic pain, but the hope that comes with science-based, individualized care. The film features thought leaders in modern pain neuroscience, including Dr. Adriaan Louw, Dr. Colleen Louw, and Stephen himself.

As Stephen emphasized in the interview, Pain, Misunderstood isn’t just about pain education, it’s about changing lives. It’s about validating the patient experience, equipping clinicians with better tools, and reimagining a health system that hasn’t always had the answers.

Pain, Misunderstood is now available to stream. A Louisville theater premiere is scheduled for later this summer.
