Therapists with OCS are more effective using fewer visits. Patients treated by board-certified therapists reported higher functional outcome measure discharge scores than patients treated by therapists without board certification.
Out of all physical therapists licensed in the U.S., only about 6% are Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists (OCS). The advanced clinical knowledge and skill set that comes with a board certification allows therapists to better treat patients in their specialty and keeps them up-to-date with cutting edge research and technology.
Board certified (OCS/SCS) PTs scored highest in MSK knowledge examination, falling short of only orthopedic physicians. This study points to the support of PT’s as direct access MSK providers with OCS/SCS being most knowledgeable.
Through data-driven care models and clinically integrated partnerships, Confluent Health serves as a strategic lever and missing link to reduce spend and improve outcomes.
We are committed to evidence-based treatment. Evidenced-based treatment is the integration of best-available relevant research, patient beliefs, and the clinicians’ experience to provide the very best outcomes and improved, empowered quality of life. By fostering a therapeutic alliance with our patients, we provide the very best care for their individual circumstances.
There are many options patients may choose when experiencing aches, pain and/or mobility challenges. Choosing PT Early and starting physical therapy at the onset of pain is the best first choice for preventing and managing musculoskeletal conditions effectively. PT Early yields better outcomes for the patient and lowers the overall cost of care for patients, payers, and the healthcare system as a whole.
Increasing access for patients to receive PT Early is key to recovery. Hybrid care options allow the patient to be seen where its most convenient to them enhancing access to high quality care and improving effectiveness. PT First programs and Value Based Care arrangements that eliminate co-pays for physical therapy further expand access to care.
PT Early users experience shorter care durations, fewer surgeries, and quicker recoveries.
Accessing PT Early leads to overall better wellness by decreasing pain and increasing movement.
With over 1,650 sites of care across our national footprint, a healthier tomorrow is never far away.
