Mark Steiger is a dynamic executive leader in healthcare operations, digital health, and strategy. As Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Confluent Health, he strengthens operations across the company’s 1,500+ sites of care and national virtual medicine platforms. Mark’s role bridges Confluent Health’s shared services with its outpatient Partner Brands, working to drive operational excellence and patient-centered solutions.
Before joining Confluent Health, Mark served as Optum’s COO, where he led operations for both the Behavioral Care and Urgent Care verticals, overseeing 350 clinics across 38 states. His transformative work included building a centralized shared services hub to enhance provider onboarding, patient navigation, revenue cycle management, and workforce operations. Mark also has a wealth of experience in population health, virtual care, and cutting-edge clinical technology, having served as Vice President of Clinical Operations at Optum’s Center for Digital Health and as Senior Director of Operations for Ascension Health’s Consumer Products division.
Mark’s leadership extends into academia, where he serves as a Faculty Affiliate at the University of Texas, teaching Health Informatics and Health Information Technology for over 18 cohorts. He holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and has contributed to several initiatives to advance digital healthcare.
In his community, Mark serves on the boards of United Way and Thinkery Children’s Museum, reflecting his dedication to giving back. Outside of work, he enjoys cycling, skiing, and spending time with his husband Tristan and their beagle in Austin, TX.
